Officer Gary
Haft

the new K9 Trainer, replacing retired Officer Rick Cook. Officer Haft
was one of the original K-9 handlers for the city in 1985. He has
worked three (3) dogs in his career; Smokey, Scratch Daddy, and Ranger.
Scratch Daddy was one of the city's first cross-trained narcotics dogs.

Gary has been a very influential force in maintaining not only The
Canton Police K-9 Unit but also the Police K-9 Association. In April
2005 Gary brought to the Stark County area, the first Explosive trained
canine and has since diligently added three more EDD Canines
He has been responsible for building and upgrading our training
facility including two new training buildings as well as the "tower"
which was designed to familiarize K-9s to various surface and height
conditions along with a vantage point to viewing the entire training
field unobstructed which aids handlers and trainers alike.
