The Police K-9 Association is a non-profit organization formed to promote a spirit of cooperation with other local K9 teams.
The K-9 Association is based in Canton, Ohio and is comprised of K9 teams from the Canton, Jackson Twp ., Massillon Police Departments
and the Stark , Carroll, Tuscarawas, & Coshocton County Sheriff's Office.
We are committed to providing the best K9 training and education at little or no cost to the officer or their agency. Training is conducted regularly for the teams to improve tactics and to share information from experiences on the street.
Currently we have a total of seventeen working dogs between the departments which are all Dual Purpose canines and certified through the State of Ohio. Fourteen being cross trained in narcotic detection and three in explosive detection.
The goal of the association is to raise donated funds along with revenues sustained through T-Shirt sales and our annual reverse raffle to help offset the costs of maintaining such a program. Proceeds are put to good use by paying for seminars, replacing worn out damaged equipment, and for general maintenance of our training facility.
Once a K9 retires from service, the dogs are taken on as part of the handler's family, the handler also takes on the burden of costs associated with veterinary care. We as an association would like to begin a separate fund, available to help officers with the expenses related to their retired partners who diligently served their respecting communities.
With your generous donations, we plan to put in place a fund for our retired partners.
